I’m thrilled to be able to share - per Variety - that JENTRY CHAU VS THE UNDERWORLD - the YA action-fantasy series starring Ali Wong and Bowen Yang, which I worked as head writer on - has been nominated for “Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming” by the TCA Awards!

We’re nominated alongside incredible shows in both live action and animation, including Doctor Who, Heartstopper, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

TV critics were indeed very complimentary of the series - created by my obscenely talented friend Echo Wu, and released on Netflix in December last year:

AV Club called JENTRY CHAU VS THE UNDERWORLD “a painstakingly created labor of love, complete with three-dimensional characters, intricate world-building, and the perfect blend of quippy humor and gripping drama”;

Observer described it as “a stellar supernatural animated series… if Netflix has any notion of what quality looks like, Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld will become one of its animated staples”

Polygon said “the whole show is a special, weird gem that sparkles with neon intensity… With bright, bold colors and character designs, compelling character relationships, and some very funky monsters and action sequences, it really checked all my boxes”

The Verge called it “a classic monster-slaying story remixed for a new generation… a refreshing addition to the Chosen Girl™ canon”;

Geek Girl Authority said “It’s an anthem for a generation looking to slay their own demons… the throughline messaging of choice, responsibility, and personal agency hits hard and true”

If you haven’t yet watched the show - stop dilly-dallying! It’s all on Netflix now.
